After feeding him probably every script in their file, Warner Bros. had finally locked up its next collaboration with David Yates. The director was all set to go on his newest project for the studio but now Deadline reports that the Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter films has exited Your Voice in My Head, an adaptation of the Emma Forrest memoir set to star Hermoine herself, Emma Watson.
Yates has backed out for personal reasons stemming from a family health situation. He had reportedly wanted to stay in charge and postpone production, but Warner Bros. wants to go ahead with the film as scheduled. The studio must feel confident that the film will still get made and that they will find Yates another project when he returns to work.
Your Voice in My Head tells the story of a young woman saved from committing suicide by a New York psychiatrist dying of cancer. Stanley Tucci has been linked to the role of the psychiatrist though it’s unclear if he’s still on board.
We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
