Since it’s launch, Dungeon Defenders has expanded in various ways with a seemingly constant stream of DLC characters and content having been released so far. This expansionism was going to break down the barriers of the PS Vita as well, but it now appears that this is no longer a part of Trendy Entertainment‘s offensive strategy.

An official post on their forums said the following about the game’s Vita version:

“We originally showed off a tech demo of Dungeon Defenders running on Sony’s handheld early last year. E3 came and went, and our fans noticed that nothing was said about Dungeon Defenders for the Vita. While we believe the Vita is a very capable platform, we’ve decided to shelve the Vita port of the game.

The post then went on to add a tantalising tease of future projects coming from the team:

“Many fans, including myself, would like to play Dungeon Defenders on the portable device, but ultimately, we’ve decided to divert those resources to other pursuits. We can’t talk about these at the moment. In fact, you may not hear about these for quite some time. But trust us when we say it’ll be worth the wait.”

As a fan of Dungeon Defenders, I am certain that whatever Trendy Entertainment have eschewed the Vita version for will be worth it – if for no other reason than the ridiculously sized hats.
