The Last of Us is HBO’s newest hit series with its debut episode quickly becoming one of the service’s most successful premieres in more than a decade. Based on a video game series of the same name, the TV show follows Joel (Pedro Pascal) as he navigates a post-apocalyptic world infested with some kind of fungal parasites that affect humans. The first episode served the purpose of establishing the events that led to Joel’s current reality as well as setting the stage for Ellie Williams’ (Bella Ramsey) potentially monumental impact in this universe.
