With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s release date fast approaching, it was high time that fans were given a bit more insight into the Quantum Realm, the microscopic universe and the backdrop of Scott Lang’s most harrowing plight yet. And, thanks to a few words from Quantumania scribe Jeff Loveness, we’ve been handed a straightforward yet effective explanation regarding the Quantum Realm’s place in the multiverse, specifically how it acts as a sort of single liminal space that exists outside of time and space.

And, as is the case with all the best insights into the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s canon, Loveness’ explanation raises far more questions than it actually answers, which in turn creates some ripe pickings for the more theory-savvy section of the fanbase, who came out in full force to discuss the implications on r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers.

The fact that there’s a single Quantum Realm for the entire multiverse comes with some dizzying implications, some of which have already been hinted at in trailers via the presence of hundreds upon thousands of Scott Langs, and fans are eager to see how such nuances are explained in-universe.

Others took Loveness’ description of the Quantum Realm as “beneath the multiverse” a bit more literally, with one user suggesting that it could be one small thread in setting up the One Below All in the Below-Place.

And others came in with more rapid-fire questions that were met with some equally fast-paced answers.

Of course, it’s no secret that the best way to experience the MCU is just to sit back and enjoy the mind-bogglingly massive ride that it provides, so even though theorycrafting is all the fun one could ever need at times, we’d all be wise to not get too caught up in the questions that may never get a straight answer.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will release to theaters on Feb. 17.
