If there is one thing we know about the Fast and Furious franchise, it’s that there is a big emphasis on “family,” but it seems like Gru and his crew are out for Dominic Toretto thanks to this new Minions Twitter post.
The official Minions Twitter account posted a tweet captioned, “it’s all about family,” and added both the Fast X and Super Bowl hashtags. Also included in the post is Gru’s large family, including his wife, grandma, adopted kids, and all the Minions. Aside from the Fast and Furious references, it seems like this franchise is trying to prove that they have a better family compared to Torretto. The account replied to a fan who believed that Gru had a “very nice family” with a hugging emoji.
But all jokes aside, one may think that the Despicable Me/Minions franchise could be seen as a more “child-friendly” version of Fast and Furious. After all, both are distributed by Universal Studios, have action-packed stakes, traveled to space, tend to feature intense car chases (looking at you Rise of Gru), and showed a huge emphasis on sticking together and caring for each other.
Fast X is the tenth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, with Vin Diesel reprising his role as Dominic Toretto. Alongside some of the returning cast members, making their debut is DC star, Jason Momoa and Marvel actress, Brie Larson. The film is scheduled to be released on May 19, 2023.
