The Witcher fans don’t have a lot to busy them at the moment — other than a live-action adaptation that they’ve all but given up on and an author whose upcoming work is nowhere near completion — so they’re going over the saga and reappraising it in a thorough manner.

In the meanwhile, a failed fantasy flick that’s essentially the sequel to a prequel of another sequel is rising through the ranks in the streaming space, making us wonder if that will compel its developers to produce even more films. Last but not least, a critically acclaimed mythological thriller is getting a lot of hate more than a year after it originally came out.

Some Witcher fans think this might be the worst book in the saga, but not everyone agrees

Some fans think Season of Storms is the worst Witcher book in the entire saga due to Andrzej Sapkowski not only contradicting himself but somehow managing to spoil the story’s ending in what he called a “prequel.” That means you should steer clear of it if you haven’t read through Lady of the Lake yet, but other fans don’t think this is necessarily the least established novel in the series. In fact, a lot of them argue that Sapkowski was at his best when he was writing short stories, so it’s the novels that really decline in quality after a while.

Dragonheart is a franchise that wasn’t overly successful but managed to overstay its welcome to a large extent. After the original 1996 film turned into a cult classic, the studio continued to churn out more flicks, culminating in 2017’s Dragonheart: Battle for the Heartfire, which was essentially the second prequel to the sequel of a so-called underrated film.

Now, Netflix is breathing new life into the fiery heart of this forgotten movie, so if you’ve grown to trust the streaming gods, this might actually turn out to be worth your while.

The Green Knight is being blasted for all the things it got wrong

If we’re being strictly fair, The Green Knight was always one of A24’s more divisive flicks, but the overall consensus when the movie came out in 2021 was positive. Now, with the benefit of hindsight backing up their arguments, folks are turning on the live-action adaptation of Sir Gawain’s story and how it deviated from the source material.

Still, I think it’s safe to say that even if you don’t appreciate The Green Knight from a narrative standpoint, you can’t deny that the film is gorgeous to watch despite its meager budget.
