‘Insidious: The Red Door’ trailer promises a frightening swansong for the Lambert bloodline

This takes frosh hazing to a whole new level.

When it comes to the realm of supernatural horror, few can match up to the popularity of Leigh Whannell’s Insidious franchise; with four films released since 2011 and all of them having made mincemeat of the box office relative to their budgets, it’s common knowledge by now that slapping Insidious onto the title of your movie is a surefire way to grab cheers, screams, and mileage at the bank.

And now, Blumhouse is set to gift us the spooky sendoff of the summer with Insidious: The Red Door; the final chapter in the harrowing story of the Lambert family, who we last left at the end of Insidious: Chapter 2. And with a brand new trailer having fallen on our doorsteps, it looks like it’s not just the box office that will be quaking in its boots.

Insidious: The Red Door, set ten years after the events of 2013’s Chapter 2, centers on the brand new nightmare of Josh Lambert’s son Dalton, who’s just been dropped off at a picturesque college with equally attractive sights on the future, but when Dalton’s repressed ghosts come back to prey on him and his father, the Lamberts quickly find themselves in what’s hopefully the final struggle in this years-long, supernatural war against their demons.

Patrick Wilson, Ty Simpkins, Rose Byrne, and Andrew Astor all reprise their roles as the Lambert family members from Insidious and Chapter 2, while Wilson is also set to helm the film in his directorial debut, taking a page out from the Michael B. Jordan-Creed book.

Insidious: The Red Door will release to theaters on July 7.
