One of the biggest deaths in The Book of Boba Fett may not have happened, according to the newly released Star Wars Timelines Book, after it claimed that a certain character was not killed in the final duel.
According to The Direct, the latest Star Wars guide and history book revealed the status of Cad Bane after the event of the Disney Plus series. The book indicated that the bounty hunter was “out of action” as opposed to dead. One may assume that this was written before the events of The Book of Boba Fett and could be outdated information. However, the book referenced his and Boba’s final face-off in “Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor,” where the new Diyamo stabbed him in the chest.
“Beneath the blistering twin suns of Tatooine, Bane returns to fight Boba one-on-one. Fett’s armor protects him from Bane’s shots, but the Duros seems to have the advantage. Resolved to protect his territory, Boba uses the weapon of his Tusken tribe, his gaffi stick – and stabs Bane through the chest, putting the Pykes’ hired gun out of action.”
It’s currently unknown what happened to Cad Bane after the duel, other than the fact that he was defeated by Boba Fett. Cad did taunt Boba during the duel, claiming that he was “a killer.” So perhaps this was his way of proving him wrong and someone was able to pick up the defeated body and bring it back to life. But the final scene during the fight made it look like Cad was gasping for air and that his body remained lifeless on the sandy grounds of Tatooine.
At the moment, it’s currently unknown when, if ever, Cad Bane will return to the Star Wars franchise. However, Grand Admiral Thrawn, a character with similar features as the “out of action” bounty hunter, is scheduled to appear in Ahsoka once the series hits Disney Plus on August 2023. For now, the fate of Boba’s defeated foe remains unknown.
The Book of Boba Fett is available to stream on Disney Plus.
