Latest Marvel News: The MCU failing to promote the end of an 8-month drought speaks volumes as concerning updates fuel fear for the ‘Spider-Verse’s future

Also, 'Guardians of the Galaxy' fans should prepare for a long wait.

Sure, we’ve had three movies and a special presentation in that time, but the Marvel universe hasn’t dropped a new TV series in our laps for a full eight months, ever since She-Hulk: Attorney at Law ended last October. Finally, the drought is ending, though, with the incoming Secret Invasion… which is why it’s so mystifying that Disney Plus isn’t reminding us of its existence every five minutes. Meanwhile, Hailee Steinfeld admits a worrying truth about Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Secret Invasion is Marvel TV’s grand return after eight months, so why are we not drowning in promotion?

Everything we’ve seen so far about Secret Invasion promises it’ll be a dark, noirish sci-fi conspiracy thriller that blends the best parts of Captain Marvel and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. But, honestly, we’d like to see a lot more of it as Marvel is surprisingly skimping on the promotion, even though a promo did just arrive today after fans practically had to beg for it. Now that we’re officially just 14 days away from its streaming premiere, hopefully Marvel is about to throw everything its got behind the Samuel L. Jackson show as it’s one we’re all seriously excited for.

After Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was so good, the entire Spidey community cannot wait for trilogy-closer Beyond the Spider-Verse to get here, with it being scheduled for next March. Unfortunately, Spider-Gwen herself Hailee Steinfeld has revealed that she’s not recorded a single word of dialogue for it yet and the film’s directors have admitted there’s a decent chance it won’t make its planned release date. Of course, quality over speed is the name of the game, but after that cliffhanger we don’t want to wait another four a half years, like we did between Into and Across.

The dog days are ongoing: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 won’t be coming to digital or streaming any time soon

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘s cinematic success is a boon for the cosmic trilogy, but it’s also a bummer for MCU fans as it has the knock-on effect of meaning it’ll take much longer for the threequel to get a home release. James Gunn has confirmed it’s going to be “a little bit” before it comes out on VOD, and even longer before it hits Disney Plus, because Marvel Studios hopes to eke out a few more dollars from its box office run before handing it over to digital. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take as long to hit Disney Plus as Avatar: The Way of Water, which is dodging the MCU’s curse with its streaming release today.

Tom Holland may still be playing coy about his Spider-Man 4 return, but more of the latest Marvel news updates are never far from home so don’t go anywhere.
