Taylor Sheridan‘s Special Ops: Lioness is poised to take over the small screen this summer as the can’t-miss series of the season as it packs a punch with an all-star cast, powerful storyline, and emotionally brilliant acting from some of the best in the business.
Starring Morgan Freeman, Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Laysla De Oliveira, and Michael Kelly, Lioness wowed excited viewers this afternoon with an intense first look at what will undeniably be a series you can’t easily turn away from. Saldaña appears to lead the charge as she explains what’s at the heart of the mission, and it goes without saying that the stakes are high where the Lioness Ops are concerned.
“We locate the daughters and wives of these high-value targets, and we place an operative close to them — and we kill the target.”
The Lioness program is kept tightly under wraps, as the teaser highlights, and one wrong move can mean life or death — in fact, even a look in the wrong direction can all-but-certainly promise the untimely demise of someone innocent. As we watch a mission gone wrong, have detrimental effects on the ops group, the heart of the series begins to show itself. These powerful women rely on their strength and the dedication of one another not just to do their jobs successfully but to remain alive.
The synopsis for Lioness reads as follows:
“Special Ops: Lioness, inspired by an actual U.S. Military program, follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror.”
Fans of Sheridan’s other hit series, Yellowstone, will recognize a few names and faces as he writes characters specifically for certain actors. Dave Annable, LaMonica Garrett, and James Jordan will appear in Lioness, and we can’t wait to see what they bring to the table.
Special Ops: Lioness is set to debut on Paramount Plus on July 23, and as fans of Sheridan know, the series will captivate you from the very first moment, gripping you with each new scene that unfolds.
