Ever since Peter Jackson dropped an initial trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey back in December, fans have been anxiously awaiting a second trailer featuring fresh content. With so many blockbuster releases this summer, speculation circled around which big name movie would have a glorious new trailer for The Hobbit attached.
Well here’s your answer – how about none? Comic Book Movie has just informed us that Jackson won’t be revealing another trailer this week, or this month, or this summer for that matter.
Jackson spoke up at San Diego’s Comic Con and shattered our hopes by dropping exactly when we can expect another trailer to hit:
Don’t expect a new trailer. That’s not coming until September.
But not all is lost for Comic Con goers as Jackson explained he’d be showing a nifty little vlog to audience members:
A new production vlog that should soon be ready, including behind-the-scenes footage of their experiences at Comic Con, and perhaps bits of the Hobbit Reel that will be showcased there too.
Actor Andy Serkis also dropped some information about the Comic Con footage, teasing what viewers could expect:
It’s kind of vignettes of various different scenes from the first movie and then kind of focusing in on the characters… introducing you to all the Dwarf characters. It’s about eight-and-a-half minutes introducing the characters.
So cheer up Con-goers, you’ll still get plenty of tasty details surrounding yet another visit to the Shire. But for those expecting a polished new trailer, all you can do is mark your calendar and count down the days.
Do we really need another trailer though to prove The Hobbit will be yet another smash hit? Peter Jackson has already showcased an epic handle on J.R.R. Tolkien’s source material for three successive films and really, there is no reason that we should be worried about Bilbo’s story.
Disappointment about not seeing a new trailer aside, are people excited to see Peter Jackson return to the franchise which made the director a household name?
