Movie studios like to go all out when it comes to their film premieres, and it seems Disney has walked the extra mile when it came to promoting its latest blockbuster, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

During the LA premiere of the latest Indiana Jones movie, moviegoers and guests were presented with an orchestral performance from the film’s composer, John Williams. This musical ensemble performed a live rendition of the Indiana Jones theme song, and if this isn’t the most remarkable thing that has happened at a film premiere, I don’t know what is.

Before the performance, Williams was praised as “the great maestro” and “the glue” to all five Indiana Jones films. The conductor has worked for this adventure film franchise since 1984, so seeing him perform his music live after years since the last movie was released in theaters shows that his work plays a massive role in this franchise.

If you missed out on this once-in-a-lifetime performance, don’t fret. Universal Music Japan has announced that Williams will perform with the Saito Kinen Orchestra in Tokyo this September, marking his first performance in Japan in 30 years.

There was speculation that Williams would retire from film composition after Indiana Jones 5. After all, he is over 90 years old. However, it was announced back in Jan 2023 that Williams plans to compose “until he’s 100”, and he also told Entertainment Weekly that he plans to stick around since “a day without music is a mistake.”

If you want to relive your childhood through William’s music, his iconic music scores are available to stream on Spotify. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be released in theaters on June 30, 2023, and you won’t want to miss it.
