We’re just two weeks and a day out from Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny swinging into theaters everywhere, upon which time the truth will finally rear its head; did the critics get these poor reviews right (despite the film receiving a Cannes standing ovation that was the same length as Top Gun: Maverick‘s?), or did IP bitterness cloud their lens a bit too egregiously?
Whatever the case, fans of the whip-wielding globetrotter will be more than happy to plug into Indiana Jones one last time in hopes of bearing witness to a sendoff worthy of the legendary archaeologist. Where Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ended up being a relatively messy shot in the dark, we can at least count on Dial of Destiny to have some intention baked into it, namely as the hero’s swansong.
The main man himself certainly couldn’t be happier with how things have played out with Dial of Destiny; given that his portrayal of Indy is perhaps one of the pillars of his career, it’s no surprise that Harrison Ford is grateful for the opportunity to close the character out appropriately, as he revealed in a recent interview with ET Online.
“I’m very grateful that we get to do this and that we’ve rounded the corner and brought the character full circle. That’s very important to me. I was very grateful to have to opportunity to make this film and I’m hoping that all these people will be grateful for it.”
How exactly Indy’s character will come to a close is anyone’s guess; will he die trying to protect his goddaughter? Will he return an artifact rather than swipe it? Whatever the case may be, we’re all looking forward to one final round of Nazi-punching, moving-vehicle-hopping shenanigans as we all hope to hope itself that the critics got Dial of Destiny wrong as much as they did Renfield or See How They Run.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is due in theaters on June 30.
