When it comes to the electrifying realm of cinematic action, it feels like a complete understatement to say that the Mission: Impossible film series is one of the most sought-after and profitable franchises of all time. Starring Hollywood veteran Tom Cruise as Impossible Missions Force agent Ethan Hunt, the captivating film franchise centers around Hunt and the entire IMF team which tirelessly attempts to prevent global threats and disaster.

Throughout its 27-year duration, the larger-than-life action films have collectively grossed over $3 billion at the box office — making Mission: Impossible one of the most successful franchises in cinema. Over time, the movies have changed directors, writers, and performances — but the series’ unmatchable popularity has yet to die out. Even after six films and more left to come, action fanatics have maintained their opinion that the Cruise-led series has some of the best action the genre has to offer.

As it stands right now, there are currently six movies in the franchise that have been released. That being said, there are two more movies that are scheduled to be released down the pipeline. Here is a list of the currently available entries:

  • Mission: Impossible (1996)
  • Mission: Impossible 2 (2000)
  • Mission: Impossible III (2006)
  • Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)
  • Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015)
  • Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018)

As previously mentioned, there are two other Mission: Impossible movies that will be released this year and next. Those movies are:

  • Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
  • Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two (2024)

Luckily for fans, Christopher McQuarrie explained that the two movies mentioned above will not be the final installments in the ever-popular franchise — all while insisting that filmmakers have further ideas as to what will come next for Hunt and his cohorts.
