Despite only really beginning her career back in 2010, Emilia Clarke has been around just about every block, as the British actress has starred in some of the biggest franchises of all time in just the last 13 years. She has now finally made her way into one of the biggest of them all, Marvel, with her role in the series Secret Invasion. Of all the huge franchises she’s been a part of, she claims Marvel is the biggest deal.

Clarke got her first big break when she bagged the role of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, a series that would become one of the biggest television events of the decade. She was catapulted into immediate stardom, though she rarely got recognized out in public, she claimed. Probably the lack of platinum blonde hair. She also starred in Terminator Genysis alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and was in the Star Wars prequel film Han Solo, but none of these compare to being a part of a Marvel project.

Speaking at a press junket for Secret Invasion, the actress made it very clear how working on Secret Invasion was above and beyond anything else she has ever worked on. Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment correspondent Kevin Polowy she spoke about how Marvel was just “the best.”

“It such a pedigree in its own right it lives in its own level that is separate from everything else. It isn’t just a superhero franchise, it’s Marvel. It is totally different.”

She attributes this to the fact that Marvel knows that its the best, and this would appear to create a very different atmosphere than other franchises the actress has worked on.

“There’s an ease and a calm that comes with them being the best, and maybe understanding that they are the best, and having all the stuff, and then just having this cast. is just completely mindblowing”

She compared it to her time on Game of Thrones, adding:

Game of Thrones was such a unique experience for me because we didn’t know what the hell we were doing most of the time and then it became this big thing and we just rode that journey all the way. This you’re stepping in and everyone’s already doing their A-game. It’s lovely!”

In Secret Invasion she plays G’iah, the now grown daughter of Talos (Ben Mendelson) whom we first met in Captain Marvel when she was just a child. The actress hopes to stay in the MCU for some time, telling The Hollywood Reporter in a prior interview “There’s a reason why actors stay in it [Marvel]. They’re so loved because they’re having loads of fun. So I’m down for that.”

You can catch the actress in Secret Invasion with the first episode now available to watch on Disney Plus.
