Super Mario is on a roll, and that’s exactly what the new food they have collaborated with is doing in this promotional video. The beloved game, not only content with becoming one of this year’s biggest blockbuster to date, is now entering the world of snacking as it partners with Oreo. That’s right, Mario-themed Oreo cookies, people!
The collaboration will produce limited edition cookies, and that’s not all, oh no – you can’t have Super Mario-themed cookies and not turn them into a game. Each Oreo cookie will have a character imprinted on the outside and fans can collect them in order to take on a Super Mario mission.
There are 16 different themed cookies with Mario characters and power-ups on them, such as Mario, Luigi, the Super Star, and even villains such as Goombas and Bowser, with which you can play. Each pack is filled randomly and offers a new adventure for those wanting to join in on the fun. Instructions for fans were shared over on Nintendo’s website and read as follows:
“Princess Peach is missing, and OREO is calling on superfans to participate in a social challenge to stop trouble-making Bowser from taking over her castle! Here’s what to do: On the rim of a glass of milk, stack as many hero-embossed cookies as possible atop a Bowser cookie until he is defeated (a.k.a. the cookies fall into the milk.) Share a video of the delicious defeat on social!”
Vishnu Nair, Senior Brand Manager at OREO spoke about the collaboration between the tasty snack and the well-loved game and why he thinks it makes the perfect pairing, saying, “There are so many playful synergies between OREO and Super Mario, it was a no-brainer for us to team up to connect fans of all ages through this delightfully playful cookie collaboration.”
He went on to say that for those who do complete the mission, there may be something waiting for them at the end. “We may even reveal a surprise as a thank you to those who successfully defeat Bowser and save the kingdom… Fans will have to wait and see!” With this and the recent launch of a Super Mario theme park in California, Mario fans are absolutely being spoiled right now.
You can pre-order the limited edition snack online from the Oreo website as they are not available until July 10 when you can purchase them at retailers nationwide and the adventure begins.
