Ever since Hugh Jackman first strapped on the claws all the way back in the summer of 2000, fans have been demanding each and every time he reprised the role of Wolverine that the mutton-chopped mutant be rewarded with a comic-accurate costume.

The closest we got was a post-credits tease in The Wolverine that showcased the classic getup for the first time ever in live-action… but it never went any further than that. Fortunately, Jackman and Ryan Reynolds won’t stand for it anymore, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Deadpool 3 finally giving the people what they wanted by showcasing Logan in all of his brightly-colored glory.

You wait over two decades for something to finally happen, so naturally the instant response is that of criticism. At this stage, you can safely say that no matter how much fan service gets spoonfed into the mouths of MCU fanatics everywhere, not everyone is going to be won over. It’s quite literally Hugh goddamned Jackman in the biggest franchise in the business sharing the screen with the Merc with a Mouth in the saga’s first-ever R-rated installment that promises a multiversal odd couple superhero comedy, and they’re still getting pissy about it.

Alas, we should have known better than to expect unanimous praise, because that’s quite simply not how the world works.
