THR is reporting that actress Jennifer Lawrence is going to be receiving a $10 million payday for her work in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. As one of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood, with an Academy Award nomination and a couple very big roles under her belt, the young actress is starting to stake her claim in the industry.
Though the initial contract is for $10 million, Lawrence can make even more through bonuses, granted the film does well, which it will. While the amount she’s being paid seems a bit high, The Hunger Games did make close to $700 million during its theatrical run.
Plus, it’s not like these movies are a walk in the park to shoot, the role was physically demanding for Lawrence and the second film will be equally, if not more difficult to prepare for.
I’ve been a fan of Jennifer Lawrence for a while now, I think she has a lot of talent and her claim to the Hollywood A-list is a valid one. I don’t think she’ll be going anywhere anytime soon and once she’s finished with The Hunger Games series, she’ll be solidified as a true Hollywood leading lady.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theatres on November 22, 2013.
What do you think? Is Lawrence worth a $10 million paycheque?
