Ever since the release of the original Kick-Ass back in 2010, the masses have been anticipating a sequel. We all knew it was going to happen, it was just a matter of waiting for all of the pieces to fall into place.
Today, we have word that another one of those pieces is very close to falling into place as Deadline is reporting that Donald Faison is in talks to star in Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall as Dr. Gravity, “the baseball bat wielding masked character who fights alongside Kick-Ass.”
The cast already includes many who were in the first film such as Aaron Johnson, Chloe Grace Meretz, Nicolas Cage, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, but also includes John Leguizamo, a newcomer to the franchise.
You may recall Faison from his work on the TV show Scrubs, but he has also appeared on the big screen in films like Remember the Titans, Skyline, and Clueless.
The film will begin shooting next month in Toronto and London and is being written and directed by Jeff Wadlow (Cry Wolf, Never Back Down).
Even though this Wadlow fellow doesn’t have anything impressive in his filmography, I’m still excited for the sequel as I thoroughly enjoyed the original Kick-Ass for its entertaining mix of action and humor. Hopefully the next film will be just as good, if not better.
Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall currently has no set release date.
