The first instalment in twisted director Tom Six’s poop-swilling horror series, The Human Centipede (First Sequence), boasted the tagline “100-percent medically accurate.” His follow-up, The Human Centipede (Full Sequence), came with the tagline “100-percent medically in-accurate.”
So for his trifecta of squirm-inducing cinema which is set to feature 500-plus people surgically attached mouth to anus what can we expect? 100-percent medically…bullshit?
Along with a two-disc combo pack release of the first two films, the bundle provided a quote stating that The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence) will slightly up the number of victims. And that, dear readers, is the understatement of the century.
Check out the quote below.
“For all you fans of the Centipede Sequence Series, Principal photography on Human Centipede 3 will take place in the Southern states of the U.S and Writer-director Tom Six himself will play a supporting role in the film. The American finale will be 100% politically incorrect and will answer questions left lingering from the first films. The Human Centipede 3 will have a 500+ person-pede. XXXXL American style!”
For those of you brave enough to seek out these films, you will remember that the original has just three unlucky blokes gastrically attached by the good Dr. Josef Heiter. The second film featured 12 individuals amalgamated by the even more deranged Martin Lomax. With 500-plus people now on the chopping block, The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence) promises to be an utterly grotesque and excessive exercise in body horror.
“First Sequence” was actually a pleasant surprise (especially considering how unpleasant it was) and rode on the strength of its cast, the dark humour and minimal gore which allowed your mind to fill in the stomach-churning events at play.
Six’s follow-up however threw everything of note out the window and made an artless, unwatchable mess that sought to shock without success. If the man aims to one-up himself once again, Human Centipede III (Final Sequence) will be doomed to fail. We’ll have to wait and see if he’s learned from his (numerous and egregious) mistakes but my money is on a lack of reform.
With filming beginning soon, we can expect The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence) to be ready some time next year.
