In news that will be surprising to absolutely nobody who enjoys water cooler chat, Showtime have ordered a third season of their Emmy award-winning drama Homeland, which currently airs to millions of adoring fans on a weekly basis.
So that means at least 12 more episodes will air after the current season ends, and it’s certainly interesting to ponder (for a few seconds, at least) where the show will take itself in the years to come.
Mostly, though, this is an achievement for Emmy-clad duo Claire Danes and Damian Lewis, whose performances as Carrie Mathison and Nicholas Brody have assured the show’s wondrous success. Oh, and the amazing writing, of course – we’re sure that helps.
For those of you who are yet to catch an episode (what are you doing?), Homeland centres on a CIA agent (Danes) who comes to believe that a soldier captured by al-Qaeda has been “turned” against the US government when he makes a surprise return home (Lewis). It’s full of paranoia, unexpected twists and sometimes scenes of a sexual nature, which shouldn’t be the thing that persuades you to watch it, but we’re stating that anyway in case it helps.
So, does the news of a third season make you all warm and fuzzy inside? Let us know what you’re thinking in the comments section below.
