Bryan Singer Will Direct X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Bryan Singer, who did direct X-Men and X-Men 2, but didn't direct X-Men 3: The Last Stand, has signed on to direct another installment in the Marvel franchise: X-Men: Days of Future Past. Presumably because Marvel movies are the only ones being made nowadays, and the man has to work.

Bryan Singer, who did direct X-Men and X-Men 2, but didn’t direct X-Men 3: The Last Stand, has signed on to direct another installment in the Marvel franchise: X-Men: Days of Future Past. Presumably because Marvel movies are the only ones being made nowadays, and the man has to work.

The film was originally set to be directed by X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn, but in a Singer-esque move, Vaughn left the project for another one and it just floated about for a bit, searching for a director.

This time, though, the results aren’t left to Brett Ratner, but instead are left to the man who directed the first two (actually good) X-Men movies. Is there a word for this? Something conceptual? No? You’re the boss.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is, as you’ve probably guessed, time-travel based, what with the words “past” and “future” both making their way into its title. Set to actually link thematically and, uh, character-ally with the first X-Men movies, there’s going to be some complicated parallel timeline stuff, and both future and past… uh, timelines….

You’ll see what I mean when it hits theatres on July 18th, 2014.

So, what do you think? Glad that Bryan Singer is returning to the franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
