Fresh off dropping out of American Assassin, Hollywood hunk Chris Hemsworth has signed on to Stephen Gaghan’s Candy Store, according to The Wrap. The upcoming feature film from the Oscar winning writer of Traffic already has some very hot names attached to it. Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz are all circling the project as we speak and there’s a couple other A-listers that Gaghan has his eye on too should his first choices fall through.

Candy Store will focus on an undercover agent who “loses everything and starts over as a beat cop in Brooklyn. He discovers the organized operation he was trying to bring down is alive and kicking right under his nose.” No word on which role Hemsworth will take but it will undoubtedly be one of the main parts.

With Gaghan behind the camera, and Hemsworth in front, along with what are sure to be some excellent co-stars alongside him, Candy Store may find Gaghan back at the Academy Awards. It’s filled to the brim with potential and it’s easy to see why Hemsworth would jump at the chance to star in a film like this. It’s exactly what he needs at this point in his career and as a fan of the actor, I’m happy to see him joining the project.

Candy Store has no start date yet but now that Hemsworth is on board, you can expect Gaghan to fill the rest of the roles pretty soon and from there, things should take off.  As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear more. In the meantime though, head down to the comments and let us know what you think of Chris Hemsworth joining Candy Shop. Is it a good move for the actor? Would you rather seem him star in something else? Let us know!
