Eli Roth may be busy directing The Green Inferno, but that doesn’t mean he’s too busy to continue his role as horror–producer extraordinaire. The project he’s currently working on is Jon Watts’ Clown, which Empire reports has found two new cast members in Peter Stormare and Laura Allen.
Watts co-wrote the script with CD Ford and will also be directing, check out a synopsis below.
A loving father dons a clown outfit, wig, bulbous nose, and pancake makeup to entertain at his son, Jack’s, sixth birthday after the clown-for-hire is a no-show. Unable to take off the clown garb, dad’s personality changes in horrific fashion. He and his family race to break the curse of the evil outfit before he undergoes a complete transformation into a homicidal killer with over-sized shoes.
Stormare was recently in Lockout and can be seen in Hansel And Gretel Witch Hunters in January. Allen has appeared in TV series such as Terriers and Awake.
Before Roth was involved in the project a fake trailer surfaced on the internet a few years ago using his name name, but instead of getting angry, Roth got involved.
“I was blown away when I saw that Clown trailer. Everyone thought it was real, or that I had at least made a fake trailer. I called the guys right away and their first response was ‘Thank you for not suing us!’ I said ‘Sue you? Let’s make this into a real film!’”
That trailer is absolutely terrifying, and with Roth involved the film certainly won’t be getting any worse. Roth has proven that he’ll be a big name in horror for a long time to come and this could be another great film bearing his name.
Stormare and Allen join Andy Powers, Christian DiStefano, Elizabeth Whitmere and Matthew Stefiuk in the cast. Production is currently underway in Ottawa.
