UPDATE: According to reps for Keanu Reeves, this is false and was simply a hoax, nothing more.
It’s been a long time since we’ve heard or seen anything that has to do with The Matrix films. For better or for worse, most people assumed that Neo and company were gone, for good. Well, according to Keanu Reeves, who played Neo in the films, The Matrix isn’t done yet. In fact, fans can expect two more films in the series. While promoting his new film, Henry’s Crime, Reeves revealed that he has met with the Wachowskis and that they talked about doing two more Matrix films. Whether this is a good idea or not is up in the air. The first Matrix film was revolutionary and is still one of the best action films of all time. The next two, well, they didn’t quite reach that same level. Many fans were ultimately let down when the trilogy came to an end.
Perhaps making two more films could be a good idea, just to give fans closure. What do you think?
Check below for a report that a reader submitted to AICN. He lets us know exactly what Reeves said.
[Keanu] says he met the Wachowski’s (no emphasis on the word brothers), for lunch over Christmas and stated that they had completed work on a two picture script treatment that would see him return to the world of the Matrix as Neo. Says the brothers have met with Jim Cameron to discuss the pro’s and con’s of 3D and are looking to deliver something which has never been seen again. Keanu stated that he still has an obligation to the fans to deliver a movie worthy of the title “The Matrix” and he swears this time that the treatment will truly revolutionize the action genre like the first movie. Wachowski’s are working on a movie called “Cloud Atlas” at the moment, once that concludes they will talk again.
