Jon Favreau Will Direct An Episode Of The Office

TV Line is reporting that Jon Favreau, who has helmed big-budget blockbusters like Iron Man and Cowboys & Aliens, will be lending his talents to NBC's The Office as he'll direct an episode of the show later this season. No word yet on which episode the director will tackle but he has been confirmed to be on board. It makes sense too seeing as Favreau now has some free time on his hands.

TV Line is reporting that Jon Favreau, who has helmed big-budget blockbusters like Iron Man and Cowboys & Aliens, will be lending his talents to NBC’s The Office as he’ll direct an episode of the show later this season. No word yet on which episode the director will tackle but he has been confirmed to be on board. It makes sense too seeing as Favreau now has some free time on his hands.

His Jersey Boys adaptation is stalled and though he has been rumored for the role of directing Star Wars: Episode VII, nothing has been confirmed on that front as of yet. So for now, it looks like the director needs to keep busy and helming an episode of NBC’s hit comedy seems like a perfect way to fill his plate. After all, many big name directors have been behind the camera for an episode or two of The Office, so Favreau definitely isn’t the first A-lister to head to Dunder Mifflin.

Unfortunately, The Office has been in a state of rapid decline ever since Steve Carell left the show a few years back. It’s a shame too that it went so downhill because for a long time, it was the funniest thing around. Now, it’s on its last legs and for the most part, a lot of the charm and appeal it had in its early years has vanished.

Bringing in a big name like Favreau at this point seems a bit silly and I can’t see a reason for it. That being said, Jon Favreau has put his name to some very good films and his talents behind the camera will likely provide for an above average episode of a show that has for the most part, been below average for the past couple years.

The Office will return on January 10th at 9/8c on NBC.
