Christopher Nolan is a director who likes to work with the same actors multiple times. He’s done so with Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy and a few others. Now, we can add Anne Hathaway to that list as she has joined the director’s upcoming sci-fi film, Interstellar. The actress will co-star with Matthew McConaughey, who was confirmed to be leading the film last week.
Based on scientific theories by Caltech astrophysicist Kip Thorne, the film will explore concepts like time travel, alternate dimensions and more wacky sci-fi stuff that only Nolan’s imaginative mind could even begin to piece together. No word on which role Hathaway will play but we do know that the basic plot will follow “a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest borders of our scientific understanding” and features “explorers [who] travel through a wormhole.” With that in mind, it’s safe to say that Hathaway will likely play one of the explorers, along with McConaughey.
Like Inception, Nolan’s last mind-bending sci-fi film, Interstellar is being described as “complex and multi-layered.” It looks like we’ll be in for another cerebral treat when the film arrives, which is fine with this writer. I love a good, original sci-fi flick and Inception is one of my favorite movies of all time. By the sound of things, Interstellar is shaping up to be a somewhat similar project and I, for one, cannot wait to see what Nolan has cooked up for us.
The man is one of the most brilliant filmmakers working today and to see him assembling a talented cast like this for his next outing is very exciting. So far only Hathaway and McConaughey are confirmed but other A-list stars are said to be circling the film. When we have more details we’ll let you know.
