ABC announced on Friday that they’d picked up Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. That news alone was enough to steady the breath of fans, eager to see Marvel’s Cinematic Universe continue on the small screen. Being treated to a glimpse at the show’s logo and debut photo of the cast was the icing on top of the cake. Well, hold onto your butts because now we’ve got the very first teaser trailer.
As if we didn’t already know, Agent Coulson is definitely back! With the series starting where The Avengers left off, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. follows Coulson (Clark Gregg) as he leads a fresh gaggle of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents into the field. They alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, the forces of darkness, they are….wait, wait. Wrong Whedonverse. Here’s the official synopsis:
Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet). From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.
From a pilot co-written and directed by Joss Whedon, the nods to his previous worlds are apparent. The casting of J. August Richards from Angel set tongues wagging from the get-go. Although details on Richards’ character in the series are under wraps, from the looks of this trailer, the rumours of him playing Luke Cage may be true. The tiny glimpse of him demonstrates that he does appear to have super human strength. Like Cage. Check it out below.
Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will debut this autumn on ABC.
