Yesterday, I brought you the information that Lionsgate has decided to reboot Leprechaun. Today, we have the first (unofficial) image of another beloved entry in the ‘unlikely and previously cute creatures with murderous intent’ subgenre of horror: Don Mancini’s upcoming Curse Of Chucky.
Remember Chucky? Of course you do. He’s the Cabbage Patch … sorry, ‘Good Guy’ doll who was inhabited with the deceased spirit of a vicious serial killer (voiced by Brad Dourif) and wreaked havoc with his adorable smile and butcher knife through Child’s Play 1-3, Bride Of Chucky and Seed Of Chucky. Now he’s back in Curse Of Chucky.
Curse Of Chucky follows Nica, played by Fiona Dourif (yep, that’s Brad’s daughter), grieving over the suicide of her mother. Her older sister Barbara (Danielle Bisutti) arrives to handle their mother’s affairs, and who do you think her little daughter receives in the mail? An adorable red-haired doll of course. Murders begin to terrorize the household, and Nica suspects that doll. But apparently Chucky has a score to settle and he’ll do it one severed limb at a time.
Curse Of Chucky supposedly follows the events in Child’s Play 3, which leaves out the last two entries in the franchise. The Chucky films, always bizarre, grew increasingly humorous as time went on. If the recent image is anything to go on, this looks a bit more serious than the almost slapstick nature of Bride Of Chucky and Seed Of Chucky.
The image of an album cover featuring Chucky and Fiona Dourif came originally from Dourif’s Instagram. It’s a pretty creepy image, but then again, everything about this franchise is creepy. It does feature a murderous doll, after all.
Curse Of Chucky is currently in post-production for an October 2013 release. Check out the image below and let us know what you think in the comments.
