A couple weeks ago we got to see an intriguing first trailer for Runner, Runner, which featured Justin Timberlake playing a whiz kid and Ben Affleck being extremely angry while feeding people to crocodiles. What more could you want from a fall flick?

Today we have a new poster for the movie. It’s nothing revolutionary, just your typical theater-style sheet featuring the film’s leads, but it does feature a stunning shot of Gemma Arterton between the serious faces of Timberlake and Affleck. It also has a subtly-colored tagline that reads “Play. Or be played.”

The Brad Furman film stars Timberlake as a brilliant Princeton student who feels he was cheated by an online poker company. He hunts down the corrupt site owner (Affleck), but ends up being brought into the company and made a right-hand man of sorts. Anthony Mackie is also in the cast as an FBI agent who is hunting down Timberlake’s character.

This film definitely has the potential to be one of the more entertaining releases of the fall. Affleck has been extremely solid in his roles lately, and Timberlake has proven that he’s a legitimate actor, not just a singer wanting to show up in a few movies. I’m also a big fan of Anthony Mackie, as he’s been excellent in almost all his recent roles.

All things considered, things are looking pretty positive for Runner, Runner. The acting will likely be very strong and the story seems ripe for some unexpected twists and some intense action, all while remaining smart and clever. Admittedly, the film could be a total bust, but let’s stay optimistic for the time being.

The film also stars Diana Laura and Ben Schwartz. Look for it in theaters September 27, 2013.
