We all know that Warner Bros. is planning on bringing Batman back to the big screen, we just don’t know how they plan to do it. There have been a ton of rumors and speculation as to how the studio is going to approach the precarious situation but we still haven’t heard anything official. Nothing has changed in that regard today, but we do have another rumor for you. Apparently, the latest idea for a reboot is to do a Batman Beyond film.
For those who don’t follow the Caped Crusader, Batman Beyond was an animated TV show which ran from 1999-2001. It revolved around a teenager named Terry McGinnis, who took up the cape and cowl to become Batman. It was set in a futuristic Gotham City and featured an older Bruce Wayne, who acted as McGinnis’ mentor.
No word on how this will play into Christopher Nolan’s trilogy but seeing as this would be a reboot, I would imagine that it would ignore the previous three Batman films (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises).
Again, this is just a rumor for now but it’s definitely an interesting idea and could work out well if executed properly. Personally, I think it would be kind of cool to head in this direction, with a new Batman and all. I’m not too familiar with theĀ Batman Beyond TV show but from what I’ve read, it sounds like it could make for a good film.
As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear more. In the meantime, let us know what you think about Warner Bros. doing a Batman Beyond film.
