Straight from Comic-Con 2013 we have a brand new red-band trailer for Kick-Ass 2 to share with you today. Featuring a healthy dose of new dialogue and new footage, the extended look at the film has us very excited for the upcoming August 16th release date.

Expectations are high for this one, and rightfully so. Matthew Vaughn delivered a surprisingly refreshing take on the genre with the original Kick-Ass back in 2010 and with a new director at the helm for the sequel (Jeff Wadlow), fans aren’t too sure of what they should expect.

As far as this trailer goes, there’s a good chunk of new material for viewers to feast their eyes on and at roughly 4 and a half minutes long, there should be something for everyone here. Whether you’re looking for more Hit-Girl, more Kick-Ass or more Red Mist aka The Mother F%&*^r, you’ll be pleased with what’s on display in this preview. We also get a great overview of the story for those who are still out of the loop.

So far, from what I’m hearing, the buzz is pretty positive and people seem to be impressed with the finished product. Judging from the footage we’ve seen, I think that we’re in for a worthy sequel and considering that Wadlow is being offered some pretty high profile projects lately, I assume that it must mean that studios are pleased with what they’ve seen from Kick-Ass 2.

Of course, we won’t know for sure how the sequel turned out until it opens in a little under a month but for now, we have plenty of marketing material to help tide us over. Personally, I’m hopeful for the film. I loved the original and despite Vaughn not returning to direct, I think that the sequel could still deliver on what made the first film so great.

Kick-Ass 2 opens everywhere on August 16th, 2013. Check out the brand new red band trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments. Will it live up to the hype? Can Wadlow deliver a worthy follow up to Matthew Vaughn’s excellent film?
