Welcome to We’ve Got The Deals. In this column, we’ll be bringing you the best steals, deals, and streaming opportunities from all around the web. To kick this week off, we’ve got a deal that sports fans and documentary fans alike will not want to miss, some great new titles that are now available streaming, and a few other Blu-Rays that you won’t want to miss. Check it out below.

1) ESPN 30 For 30 Collector’s Edition

ESPN 30 For 30

Amazon’s Blu-Ray deal of the week is more than just a single Blu-Ray, in fact, it’s the awesome 12-disc collector’s edition of the first 30 ESPN 30 For 30 films. The set is selling for a mere $34.99 which is a whopping 65% off its normal $99.95 price tag.

That’s right, this set is even cheaper to buy on Blu-Ray than it is on DVD right now, so how can you justify passing this offer up? Even if you aren’t huge sports fan, all the documentaries tell compelling stories, far beyond the drama that is inherent in the world of sports.

This set includes great films such as The Legend of Jimmy The Greek, The U, Run Ricky Run, The Two Escobars, The Best That Never Was, and a ton more. Being a huge NBA fan, I especially enjoy Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks and No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson, but I also love Four Days In October as it completely captures the excitement of that famous Yankees vs. Red Sox series. But honestly, there isn’t a film in the set that disappoints.

If you missed any of the films when they were first on the air, then you should definitely buy the set to catch up. If you’ve seen them already, then you know how great they are and definitely will not want to miss out on this deal.

2) Alien Anthology

Alien1

For sci-fi fans, there are few franchises that are more revered than Ridley Scott’s Alien. The first film set a precedent for most of the space horror that has followed, both shocking and thrilling audiences worldwide. Many would argue the second film is even better than the first, upping the stakes and the effects. But the entire series is enjoyable, and you can get all 6 discs with a ton of special features in this must-have set.

Right now the set is marked down to $33.90, which is a 52% discount. If you’re a fan of the series and still don’t own it on Blu-Ray, you’re going to be hard pressed to find it any cheaper than this. The set includes Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, and Alien Resurrection, plus two more discs filled to the brim with special features.

3) Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Trek Into Darkness

When J.J. Abrams was tasked with revitalizing the Star Trek franchise, few imagined the result would be as enjoyable as 2009’s Star Trek. While some hardcore fans were upset about some changes made to character dynamics, for a good majority of people it was an excellent sci-fi film, worthy to be the cornerstone of a new series of movies.

The second in the new series, Star Trek Into Darkness, did very well in theaters, and was loved by critics and fans alike. Now you have a chance to pre-order the 3 disc Blu-rRy set for the ridiculously low price of $24.99. Compared with the original price of $54.99, that’s an incredible deal. It doesn’t release until September 10th, but you might as well secure a copy now, especially at this great price.

4) The Place Beyond The Pines

place beyond the pines

Derek Cianfrance’s multi-generational epic, The Place Beyond The Pines, ran a limited theatrical release this spring. For many who aren’t near a major city, you may have missed the opportunity to see it in theaters, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get your own digital copy now. If you’re unsure of whether to see it, check out our review of the film, and see for yourself just how worth your time it is.

5) Mud

Matthew-McConaughey-Mud

Another limited release that you may not have had a chance to see in theaters, Mud currently has a phenomenal RT score of 98%. If that isn’t enough incentive to see the film, perhaps you’ll want to watch Matthew McConaughey prove that despite some lackluster films in recent years, he really is a talented actor, capable of turning in a performance that carries a film.

6) Drinking Buddies

Joe Swanberg’s Drinking Buddies is another endeavor into the mublecore movement, but this time it feels realer than ever. That’s due in large part to the phenomenal chemistry between Olivia Wilde and Jake Johnson. Wilde is always a treat to watch, and Johnson is rapidly becoming one of my favorite actors. While the movie is far from perfect, it’s an interesting look at the complexities of friendship when attraction is present. Basically, it’s a rom-com that doesn’t suck.
