Additionally, Sony has announced plans for a companion mobile app to go along with Into the Nexus. Titled Ratchet & Clank: Before the Nexus, the game will apparently be an infinite auto-runner in the vein of Temple Run, albeit with a Ratchet-centric theme. Players will be able to hop between grindrails, encounter enemies, and collect the familiar currency of bolts to upgrade their weapons and armor. You will also be able to obtain the special mineral known as Raritanium, sync the app with your PlayStation Network account, and transfer it to your PS3 for use in Into the Nexus.

More details, including a release date, platform list, and pricing, are currently unannounced for the app, but Sony did release a pair of screenshots that you can view below to get a better idea of what to expect.

Though not the pair’s first portable outing (Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank originally launched back on the PSP, along with a 2005 phone game called Going Mobile), this is the first one in some time, along with the first for modern smartphones. It should be fun to see how Sony combines the popular auto-runner genre with classic Ratchet & Clank gameplay.

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus will launch simultaneously on PlayStation Network and at retail in North America on November 12th. We will keep you updated as more news regarding the title becomes available. Until then, let us know your thoughts on the new trailer and app announcement in the comments section below.
