New Images From RoboCop Highlight The Cast, New Trailer In Two Days

Hollywood remakes are always a mixed bag. Some manage to inject fresh energy into the stories they ape, while others seemingly exist only to remind us of their own pointlessness. That said, I'm looking forward to next year's RoboCop reboot.

Hollywood remakes are always a mixed bag. Some manage to inject fresh energy into the stories they ape, while others seemingly exist only to remind us of their own pointlessness. That said, I’m looking forward to next year’s RoboCop reboot.

The film’s first trailer, which arrived in September, was surprisingly engrossing; its blend of sleek special effects and gritty realism seems like it could really pay off at the box office. Now, the film’s official Facebook page is teasing the impending arrival of a second trailer with a cluster of new images from RoboCop. The trailer is set to arrive in two days, but you can check out the images below:

Though the images don’t offer much by way of new information about the remake’s plot, they do showcase RoboCop‘s excellent cast of characters. The shots include protagonist Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman), who becomes the titular cyborg after sustaining horrific injuries in the line of duty; Dr. Dennet Norton (Gary Oldman), the brilliant inventor of RoboCop; Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton), OmniCorp’s nefarious CEO; Pat Novak (Samuel L. Jackson), a charming talk-show host; Liz Kline (Jennifer Ehle), OmniCorp’s Head of Legal Affairs; robot combat engineer Maddox (Jackie Earle Haley) and Alex’s doting wife Clara (Abbie Cornish).

The official plot synopsis for RoboCop reads as follows:

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

RoboCop will open in IMAX 3D on February 12th, 2014.
