As promised, the first teaser trailer for Gareth Evans’ The Raid 2: Berandal has roared onto the internet a little earlier than expected. courtesy of Twitch. The brief, visceral sizzle reel is our first glimpse of the Welsh filmmaker’s sequel to 2011’s The Raid: Redemption, which will see him reunite with Indonesian star Iko Uwais for more cringe-inducing action.

That said, not all of these faces are brand new. Yayan Ruhian and Tegar Satrya’s Bowo, for instance, will both reprise their roles in the hyper-violent sequel. Moreover, the snippet also hints towards some of the larger set pieces, with cutaways to a car sequence and an Indonesian shopping complex all included to add an extra sense of intrigue to the distinctive action.
The follow-up to Gareth Evans’ stylish debut, which was recently granted a theatrical release in North America through a partnership with Sony Pictures, is set to hit the big screen sometime in 2014.
