Six years after his hit show The Shield took its final bow on FX, Michael Chiklis is returning to the network for the fourth season of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story, subtitled Freak Show. Set in Jupiter, Florida, in the 1950s, the show’s next outing will see Jessica Lange returning to play a German ex-Pat who’s in charge of “one of the last remaining freak shows in the country.” Also returning for more scares will be Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy and Kathy Bates.
As for Chiklis, he’ll play the father to Peters’ character, who also happens to be Bates’ character’s ex-husband. Murphy has been wanting to bring the actor on board for a while now and Chiklis seems equally pleased to be part of the show. “My heart was pounding like it is right now. It is a Freak Show, oh man!” Chiklis said at Paleyfest when his casting was announced.
Though he hasn’t done much work that you could classify as memorable since The Shield, the hard-hitting cop show did earn Chiklis two Emmy noms (and one win) and is still, to this day, one of my favorites. Jumping back onto the FX wagon should prove to be a wise move for the actor’s career and I’m hoping that it’s just the start of a comeback for him. I don’t know about you guys, but I love me some Vic Mackey.
Tell us, are you looking forward to the upcoming season of American Horror Story? If so, are you happy to hear that Michael Chiklis is returning to FX?
