Not long ago, we relayed information pertaining to a potential Disney Infinity version 2.0 release. However, at that time, things were still in rumour form, despite a leak that seemed to officially list a forthcoming sequel. That veil has now been lifted, thanks to today’s Disney Interactive webcast.
What the gaming populace has now been made privy to is the existence of Disney Infinity’s 2.0 release, which has been dubbed Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes. Its comic book affiliation shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, though, since a teaser trailer featuring Captain America’s shield recently hit the Internet.
Developed by Avalanche Software and scheduled for release during the Fall 2014 window, Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes will mark the first time that some of Marvel’s most iconic characters have crossed paths with the hit toy/video game series. As such, you can expect to be able to play as the likes of Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor and Black Widow, along with at least fifteen other heroes. It’s been said that at least twenty will be available for utilization, along with upwards of 80 new power discs. Only three figures will come with the game’s starter set, though, with those being Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow.
Continuing this onslaught of information, the following enhancements, additions and introductions have been confirmed for this version of the best-selling toy/video game series:
- An all new Toy Box mode that will feature new brushes. Said brushes will allow for more creation options, including cities and forests.
- A.I. builders, who can be given tasks to accomplish
- Characters that will not only be classified by their ability-related play styles, but also their locomotion. What this means is that flight will be a part of the experience, with the same being true of climbing.
- New vehicles and environments that relate to the iconic Marvel Universe
- An increased level cap of 20
- Originally crafted plot lines, which will take full advantage of the title’s enhanced gameplay mechanics
- The ability to use Disney Infinity 1.0 characters, at least in Toy Box mode
Last, but certainly not least, is confirmation that Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes will be making its superpowers known on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PC and iOS (tablets and smartphones). While a brand new portal will be required for play on Xbox One, the PlayStation 3’s Disney Infinity portal will apparently work with its PlayStation 4 successor.
Stay tuned for more information as it develops.
