Check Out The Grand Budapest Hotel Recreated Out Of LEGO Bricks

We usually don't decide to post cool stuff like this on the site, but since this is technically movie news, we'll make an exception! As a way to celebrate the home video release of Wes Anderson's latest film, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Fox Searchlight hired LEGO-builder extraordinaire Ryan Siegelbauer and his team to recreate the titular hotel using nothing but LEGO bricks!

We usually don’t decide to post cool stuff like this on the site, but since this is technically movie news, we’ll make an exception! As a way to celebrate the home video release of Wes Anderson’s latest film, The Grand Budapest HotelFox Searchlight hired LEGO-builder extraordinaire Ryan Siegelbauer and his team to recreate the titular hotel using nothing but LEGO bricks!

575 hours and 50,000 bricks later, they assembled what appears to be a perfect replica of the Grand Budapest. All that’s missing are mini-figure versions of M. Gustave H. and his trusty lobby boy, Zero. Luckily for us, Siegelbauer made sure to film the entire build, which you can see for yourself below:

The LEGO bricks used were sourced from private collectors and wholesalers from Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Germany, Italy, and 14 states in the U.S. The final model weighs approximately 150 pounds, and stands at a staggering 7 feet tall and 6.5 feet wide.

The Grand Budapest Hotel arrives on Blu-Ray and DVD on Tuesday, June 17th. The LEGO Movie also arrives that day, making this one awesome way for both films to cross-promote each other. And now, thanks to this model, I won’t rest until the day I see Wes Anderson direct one of the upcoming LEGO Movie sequels or spinoffs.
