Early signs indicate that this October’s American Horror Story: Freak Show, the fourth installment of Ryan Murphy’s acclaimed FX anthology series, may be the show’s strangest, creepiest and downright freakiest to date. In the mix this year are conjoined twins, a clown killer named Twisty, a “dark tormentor” looking for revenge on one of the performers, a collector of freaks and even the world’s actual smallest woman. It’s going to be one hell of a season, that’s for sure.
As we head into the fall, FX is mounting an advertising campaign for Freak Show with a delectably creepy teaser that, in typical American Horror Story fashion, is immediately gripping, enigmatic and completely unforgettable. Check it out below.
Freak Show will include a mix of familiar faces from past seasons and newcomers to the American Horror Story family. Jessica Lange toplines as a German ex-pat who runs the freak show, one of America’s last, out of Jupiter, Florida. Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Michael Chiklis, Frances Conroy, John Carroll Lynch, Jamie Brewer, Denis O’Hare, Gabourey Sidibe, Wes Bentley, Patti LaBelle, Finn Wittrock and Jyoti Amge also have roles.
Here’s the synopsis, courtesy of FX:
