Let’s talk about the PlayStation Vita for a second. Ever since Sony entered an infinite loop in which games aren’t released for the system because the system won’t sell because of a lack of titles (and on and on), Vita fans have been clamoring for just one title to take advantage of the powerful hardware. Although it seems that the ship has already sailed on the handheld seeing some fantastic exclusives (aside from Danganronpa), there may be hope in the form of Resident Evil: Revelations 2.
Recently, some attentive gamers perusing PlayStation Japan’s Tokyo Game Show website noticed that it hinted at more than a few games being announced or further discussed at the upcoming show, including titles such as Until Dawn, Uncharted 4, and Final Fantasy Type-O HD. However, they also discovered that Resident Evil: Revelations 2 may be announced as a Vita title alongside one other unnamed project.
While the console version has already garnered plenty of attention thanks to the previous entry’s surprisingly solid premise and gameplay, it’s interesting to see that a Vita port may be in the works considering Capcom’s sketchy record regarding the handheld just a few years ago. If you remember, Resident Evil: Revelations was originally released on the 3DS, with console ports coming well after the initial release. However, a Vita port wasn’t up for discussion, and Capcom had a pretty lousy excuse for it.
Although Resident Evil: Revelations was perfectly playable as-is, the addition of the Circle Pad Pro and its additional joystick made the game an absolute blast. Naturally, it seems like the Vita’s setup would be very intuitive with the design of the game, so here’s to hoping that this rumor holds some water.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is due out for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC in early 2015. Keep an eye on the Tokyo Game Show for more news about the possible port!
