Dito Montiel’s next project, dystopian thriller Man Down, has acquired another two names to its burgeoning cast list. First off, A Good Day To Die Hard star Jai Courtney has joined the pic. Deadline has the news. Quietly dropping Toby Kebbell’s name into the mix, they also offered a slightly better grasp of the plot. We knew previously that the movie would revolve around a returning veteran, and now we know that vet will be a man.
“[Man Down tells]… the story of Gabriel Drummer, a haunted Afghanistan war veteran who attempts to come to terms with his past while searching for his family in a post-apocalyptic America. “
Courtney’s supporting role will be as Gabriel’s best friend, Devin, who served alongside him in the war. Earlier this month the project made headway when Shia “I’m retiring from acting” LeBeouf, Kate Mara (Fantastic Four, TV’s House Of Cards) and Gary Oldman (The World’s Greatest Actor) were all confirmed to be taking on leading roles in the psychological thriller. While there’s no definitive word, we’re assuming LaBeouf will be in the lead as Gabriel and Mara will play his girlfriend (when really she should be in the lead). And Oldman? Well, who knows. With Toby Kebbell (Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes) now on the call sheet, there’s certainly cause for an official synopsis to land.
In the preliminary pre-production stage, Man Down is gaining traction as it nears its start date. Montiel will start the shoot on October 30th in New Orleans, from a script by Adam Simon (The Haunting In Connecticut.)
