After wreaking wonderfully outlandish havoc across Los Angeles and New York, Syfy has confirmed that Sharknado 3 is on its way to the East Coast, with the shark-infested storm due to hit the likes of Orlando and Washington, D.C. in 2015. Climate change is a bitch, huh?
The news comes to us from the franchise’s official Twitter account, which confirmed it yesterday.

In fact, Sharknado 3 is set to be as sprawling as ever, gobbling up a hoard of locations where the first two films took place primarily within one city. And while we don’t know much about, err, story, you can readily expect some major monuments to be face the brunt of the titular super-storm come next year — an airborne shark attack on the White House, anyone?
It’s also unclear whether Tara Reid will reprise her role in the upcoming threequel; though at this stage, she may be our only hope against the seemingly relentless predators.
First released in July of last year, Sharknado literally whipped up a storm and had fans of B-movie horror reeling in unashamed glee. The second installment — aptly named Sharknado 2: The Second One — premiered exclusively on Syfy and pulled in a whopping 3.9 million viewers, which is close to thee times the amount that its predecessor amassed, and cemented the series’ place as a cult Internet phenomenon.
Syfy’s Sharknado franchise will return for another bout of unabashed mayhem next year with the release of Sharknado 3 (The Third One?). We’ll keep you right up to date with all of the weather-related and indeed casting-related tidbits as they appear, but in the meantime, you can share your hopes for the sequel in the comments section below.
