Ray Fisher Admits He Had No Idea About Cyborg Stand-Alone Film

It was only last week when Warner Bros. and DC lifted the lid on their expansive cinematic blueprint that openly confirmed a hoard of big-budget superhero films. From Suicide Squad to Wonder Woman and Shazam to Aquaman, ardent fans of the comic book series were overjoyed when the show-stopping news was first unveiled. Only, for Ray Fisher — the Broadway star who has signed on as Cyborg — the announcement was news to him as well.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 27-year old spoke candidly of his involvement in the rapidly-expanding DC universe, stating that he had no idea that Warner Bros. had planned a solo movie for his take on one Victor Stone.

“I didn’t know the extent to which DC and WB had planned on taking my character. When I signed on, I just wanted to be part of this world. But that specific information, I found out then and there. I didn’t think I’d be getting my own stand-alone film.”

Due to release in 2020 alongside a retooled version of The Green Lantern, Cyborg will indeed star Ray Fisher as the titular part-human, part-android. Interestingly, Jason Momoa — who has signed on for Aquaman — also had a similar story when it comes to DC’s mysterious ways, stating that he didn’t know the extent of his own role in the company’s shared cinematic space.

Nevertheless, each actor will be introduced in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as a cameo role, and Fisher confirmed that his involvement in the film has already finished.

“I met everyone in the Justice League except Henry Cavill and Ezra Miller. It was surreal. You get this idea of going to work on a Hollywood set as being really stressful and nerve-wracking. But it blew that stereotype away. If they did have stressful times, it wasn’t while I was there.”

Ray Fisher will appear in a stand-alone Cyborg film at some point in 2020. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more on exactly how he’ll factor into DC’s ever-growing universe.
