The Telltale formula knows no bounds, it seems, after the revered developing team announced plans today to partner with Mojang to bring Minecraft: Story Mode to a plethroa of platforms in 2015.

As this is coming by way of Telltale Games, the all-new game will be an episodic, narrative-driven series — yes, you read that right — and we understand that the first installment will make its bow next year across PlayStation and Xbox platforms, as well as PC, Mac, iOS and Android devices.

“Minecraft: Story Mode will be an all-new narrative-driven game series. Set in the world of Minecraft, the series will feature an original story, driven by player choice. It will not be an add-on for Minecraft, but rather a separate stand-alone product that will premiere in 2015 on consoles, computers and mobile devices. Telltale’s game series will mix new characters with familiar themes, in an entirely original Minecraft experience, inspired by the Minecraft community and the game that continues to inspire a generation.”

This means that Telltale is juggling The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Tales From The Borderlands, Game of Thrones and now Minecraft. What’s next, Star Wars?

Even still, brick by pixelated brick, Minecraft as an intellectual property has transformed itself into one of the most established and indeed profitable titles in the industry. How exactly Telltale will infuse the emergent, sandbox-styled gameplay of Mojang’s title with its esteemed storytelling remains to be seen, but based purely on its left-field concept, you can color us very intrigued indeed for Minecraft: Story Mode.
