Home Featured Content Gallery: 11 Movies Releasing In 2016 That We’re Already Drooling Over It's only 2015, but We Got This Covered is already looking ahead at 2016 movies that have us drooling. Matt Joseph Jan 26, 2015 12:19 pm2015-02-10T23:35:40-05:00 Share This Article Arguably the biggest film of 2016, not much can be said about Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice that hasn’t been said already. It’s the film that fans have been waiting for, and it’s the film that will pave the way for Justice League. If you’re not already drooling over this one, you may need to get your head checked. Though it’s still without a title, the fifth Jason Bourne film is causing a great deal of excitement as it will see franchise star Matt Damon return to the role with director Paul Greengrass behind the camera. Given that this is something that fans of the series have been lobbying for for some time, I think it’s safe to say that we’re all eager to see what the two filmmakers have come up with. After Bryan Singer proved with X-Men: Days of Future Past that merging timelines could work, everyone’s eager to see where the mutants will go from here. X-Men: Apocalypse promises big things for the franchise, and with Singer back in the director’s seat, we can’t see what this reinvigorated series has in store for us. Iron Man vs. Captain America? How can you not be giddy with excitement for this one? Civil War will see the two aforementioned Avengers clash in a popular storyline taken right from the comics. And, if the source material is any indication, we’re in for one hell of a film. Fans have been calling for the Sorcerer Supreme to hit the big screen for some time now, with Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role. Well, Marvel finally answered their passionate fanbase and are giving us just that. And, given that the studio handled the cosmic properties of Guardians of the Galaxy splendidly, I think we’re in for an equally impressive treat when Doctor Strange hits theatres. Even after more than a decade since the original hit theatres, audiences have kept swimming for a Finding Nemo sequel. And, in 2016, they’ll get one. Taking place one year after the events of Finding Nemo, the film will bring back all the loveable characters from one of Pixar’s most cherished gems. Marlin, Nemo, the Tank Gang and of course, Dory, will all swim onto our screens once more, which should be reason enough to get excited for this one. Usually there would be no reason to get excited over a video game adaptation, but Warcraft is different. Not only is the property itself massive, but it’s got the incredibly talented Duncan Jones behind the camera, who’s proven himself in the sci-fi genre with brilliant films like Moon and Source Code, both of which had ample amounts of heart and brain. Which, in turn, leads us to believe that Warcraft may be the one of the few video game movies to really be of some quality. Aside from the fact that this film will mark James Wan’s return to horror after the director swore the genre off….actually…wait a second, there should be no “aside from.” The very fact that The Conjuring 2 will see Wan back in the horror game is reason enough to have genre fans drooling almost 18 months in advance. Take one look at the cast for this film (Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, etc.) and tell me you’re not looking forward to Suicide Squad. I dare you! Not only will the film see the return of The Joker, played here by Jared Leto, but it’s got David Ayer behind the camera, which promises a gritty, dark entry into the DC Cinematic Universe that we’re already drooling over. Fans have been begging for a Channing Tatum-led Gambit movie forever now, and in 2016, they’re finally going to get one. With the character set to appear in both X-Men: Apocalypse and his own solo outing in 2016, all eyes are on 20th Century Fox to see if they can give us a better version of the character than we got with 2009’s X-Men: Origins Wolverine. With the way the franchise is currently going though, we’re pretty confident that they can. The fact that the Coen brothers are taking on 1950s Hollywood should be reason enough to get you into theatres for this one. But throw in a cast that includes George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Channing Tatum, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton and more, and you’ve already got us lining up for tickets. Seriously, the Coens are amongst the most brilliant filmmakers around, and to see them take on the story of a Hollywood “fixer” trying to get to the bottom of a mystery concerning a cast member who vanishes during filming, should be a real treat.
