Now that Marvel has effectively made sitting through the credits of a movie the status quo, fans of the studio were once again treated to an Easter Egg after the events of last year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Much like post-credits scenes of old, the clip seeded the origin story of another character or, in this case, characters, giving us our first look at the Maximoff siblings, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
A quick note, if you want to go into Avengers: Age of Ultron relatively fresh, then you may want to think twice before reading ahead.
Still with us? Great! Those of you who have been keeping close tabs on all of the intricate cogs within the MCU machine will know that Pietro and Wanda Maximoff gain their physics-defying powers courtesy of Loki’s staff and, specifically, Hyrda agent Baron Von Strucker. In an interesting turn of events, however, the Twins themselves weren’t captured by the super-secret agency in this iteration; rather, they volunteered to be test subjects in Hyrda’s immoral scheme. Similar to Steve Rogers’ budding war hero, only for slightly more nefarious reasons.
Whatever the case, we’ll be able to see their arc play out on the big screen when Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron blasts into theaters on May 1. For now, you can check out said digital comic through the gallery below.
