Perhaps it should be retitled Unkillable.

After being canceled by CBS, brought back and then canceled again by the same network, Poppy Montgomery-led detective drama Unforgettable is getting a new lease on life courtesy of A&E, which has picked it up for a fourth season.

The series, in which Montgomery plays a detective who remembers everything apart from the day her sister was murdered, first got the ax after one middling season on CBS, but the network decided to bring it back for a second season over the summer, where it thrived for its next two seasons. As part of its move toward louder, more expensive programming like Under the Dome and James Patterson’s Zoo, however, CBS killed the series yet again last October.

A&E will air it as part of its expanding dramatic block, which includes acclaimed Freddie Highmore-Vera Farmiga two-hander Bates Motel along with a reboot of The Returned. Funnily enough, the network is bringing Unforgettable back from the dead just a few months after its own canceled drama Longmire found new life on Netflix.

The surprise deal is yet another victory for Sony Pictures Television, which is famed for championing its shows even after cancellation. The studio previously negotiated a deal with Yahoo to bring back beloved cult comedy Community, and secured new seasons for canceled CBS shows Rules of Engagement and Damages.

It’s unknown when Unforgettable will air its 13-episode fourth season, though a good bet would be sometime this fall.
