Such is the nature of YouTube and its integral relationship with the video game industry that over the weekend, user PlayMeThrough uploaded the entire campaign for PlayStation 4 exclusive The Order: 1886, with the total time amounting to approximately 5.5 hours.

Such is the nature of YouTube and its integral relationship with the video game industry that over the weekend, user PlayMeThrough uploaded the entire campaign for PlayStation 4 exclusive The Order: 1886, with the total time amounting to approximately 5.5 hours.

In a statement provided to Eurogamer prior to this footage going live, Ready at Dawn CEO Ru Weerasuriya touched upon the accusations against the cover-based shooter for its seemingly short playtime. However, the executive made it explicitly clear that the studio had no intentions of revealing the average time it took players to complete the campaign during the game’s testing period, stating that it all comes down to a player-by-player basis.

I know there are numbers out there. I know why the question comes up. I know numbers have been put out there that are actually not right. It’s impossible to finish the game in that time, so we know the numbers are wrong.

At the end of the day, we’re not going to comment on it. We can’t stop people from writing the things they do. And we’re not going to jump at every single mistake that is made out there. Every time somebody has the wrong impression of something we made, or somebody writes the wrong thing about what we did, it would be a full-time job to be like, oh no, that’s not right. We make games. We do what we do for the players. And, ultimately, that’s where I want to leave it.

Alas, Weerasuriya is claiming that questions of length in games come down to personal preference. Granted, that may be the case, but considering the fact that The Order: 1886 has no online mode to speak of, what’s preventing users from trading the title in immediately after they beat its seemingly limited campaign?

Ready at Dawn’s The Order: 1886 will arrive exclusively on PlayStation 4 this Friday, February 20, when you’ll be able to judge the length and value-for-money credentials of the Victorian-themed title for yourself.
