Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat X may feature Predator-themed DLC, if a source closer to Videogamer is to be believed.
Granted, neither party has come forth to confirm or deny the report, though the purported content pack isn’t exactly outside the realm of possibility. In July of last year, shortly after the latest iteration of the famed brawler was revealed, series creator Ed Boon Tweeted a fan illustration that superimposed the titular alien opposite the game’s Scorpion character, fuelling speculation that the creative team is, at the very least, weighing up the option of including the Predator at some point down the line.
In fact, Videogamer’s report states that this purported add-on will include much more than just the stealthy extra-terrestrial, as apparently actor Carl Weathers (also known as Colonel Al Dillion in the cult sci-fi classic) has offered up his likeness and voice for the upcoming brawler, too. Given the more mature fanbase that Mortal Kombat attracts, there’s no doubting that a Predator-themed DLC would act as great fan service, but whether this pans out to be factually true is another question entirely.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve gradually learned more details of Mortal Kombat X‘s ever-expanding roster of playable characters. From Raiden to Quan Chi, Warner Bros. has been keeping fans on tenterhooks with these incremental reveals. But will the publisher ever lift the curtain on a Predator-themed DLC? Time will tell.
Mortal Kombat X is slated to launch across PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on April 14.
